First Street - Day 1

A sign in the back door window at First Street.

I woke up early this morning - around 6AM. I got up, got some coffee and got into my car. I was on my way to start demolition on First Street. My car would barely turn over. Rrrrr. Rrrrr. Rrrrr. The headlights were dim. I turned off the head lights, turned off the car, pumped the gas petal, turned the key in the ignition and the car roared into action! Whew and thank God went through my brain. I had so much stuff packed into the car to take to the job site that my whole self just shook when the car gave me that hiccup. I envisioned myself unpacking the car and putting everything into our old, Nissan truck. It's having trouble with the muffler so I'd really be roaring if I had to take that thing.
I got to the job site and Ray Chacon ( our property manager and number one problem solver) and I sat up work stations on the patio. He hauled water to the site as the water is not hooked up at the house.
Later in the morning, our new employee called to say she had a headache and couldn't come today but would make it tomorrow.
I called Amber, another lady who works for us, to come help with the cleaning.
You look at the pictures of this lovely old home and can easily see the charm but I will tell you on my life that you've probably never smelled anything that smells any worse than this house.
Here's a little back story to it. The man who lived in the house must have reverted to wild because raccoons, cats, fleas and squirrels - and probably mice - used this house as a toilet. There is poop everywhere. The man, whose name is Rex, once told me that he had 5 Mama cats - so proud like. I thought to myself, " You've got cat infinity!"
So eventually, because he did not pay his bills, he lost the house to the bank and Philip bought it as a foreclosure property.

Here's a few pictures from today:

This huge tree was growing in the yard until July. Philip had it cut down
because it was a danger to the people, houses and cars under it.

It's trunk was three foot in diameter. Notice all the sun that now lights the house?
