We left for Seattle on the afternoon of September 7th. Along with my husband, pain came along with me for the journey. I had been painting primer on a rental property bedroom the day before, so I figured my pain was from a pulled muscle. No doubt that a few days relaxing on our cruise would ease my pain. Here's a couple of things I learned on this trip. Pain is a messenger - listen carefully. Always pack some cozy, warm pajamas - you won't be sorry. Less tight fitting - more loose fitting clothes (Your body will thank you).
This is the AirBnB we stayed at in Seattle. We got a Uber from the airport to this address. When we got to the house it was dark with no street lights anywhere. The driver had trouble finding the address and insisted the block over from it was where we were suppose to get out. Since you can't see the address from the street in the daytime, imagine our difficulty in pitch darkness finding this place. When Phil got out of the Uber to find the house, and then said "This is the place," the Uber driver set me and our bags out on the sidewalk and took off. Phil then came back to the side walk saying he wasn't sure and why'd the driver take off. I said, " He heard you say this was the place." I was tired, Phil was tired and pain was giving me a light back rub. Phil used his phone light to figure out we were at our destination, though he was thrown off by a "Beware of the dog" sign next to the lock box to the house.
From the street, one follows a dirt foot path to the sidewalk then climbs a set a steps - made haphazard by the shifting of the Earth. Now do this in the dark.
Once we figured out that we were where we were suppose to be and found our key to get inside, we discovered what I referred to as 'grandma's parlor.'
There were all forms of chachkies sitting about.
Yet more than the clutter we saw about us, the lower floor was filled with an aroma that I describe as "a basketball team's used socks."
There were also endless little notes tagged everywhere in the house. The do's and don'ts. I especially floundered with the list for waste disposal. One must stop and think about every single thing they are getting ready to toss out. And the home owner had "waste lists" posted everywhere.
Here's the rundown on waste in Seattle. Take a minute or ten to sort it all out.
I had to get a picture of the toilet situation. I couldn't quite get the feel for light versus heavy flush. So I just hit the flusher and let the commode sort it out.
After spending the night, we debated about finding another place. Our bedroom was clean and the bed was comfortable.h Lots of fresh air through the open windows. This particular place was close to everything. We had scheduled staying here for two nights before the cruise and two nights after the cruise. We decided to trudge on and maybe look for something better when we got back from Alaska.
